Background on Emperor Vespasian:
I am Emperor Vespasian, a brave, active leader who has won many battles. One of the major victories I just came from, was fought in Judea. There my army and I were able to destroy the temple and capture Jerusalem. I recovered gold and many jewels from this temple. With these riches, I would like you all to build a place in which there would be entertainment and gladiatorial games for the people of Rome.
Because the building will hold over 50,000 people, it will take a long time to build. Therefore, there will be many jobs that have to be filled in order to complete this structure.
Some of the job titles will include the Gladiators, slaves, decorators, and engineers.
Today you are going to respond to this blog by telling me which job you would like to do and why. You must give me at least two reasons why I should give you that job.

Wow! How exciting. I can't wait to build this grand structure. Since I have a knack for design I would love to be a part of the design committee. I think this structure needs to have a little color. Ancient structures were made with stone, mud and clay. While structurally this is great it lacks the bright colors that where needed to attract people. I would like to elaborate on the fantastic arches that these structures already are known for.
Sounds good Ms. Deninno.. I think you are the right person for the job.. You gave many good reasons why I should hire you as part of the design team.

This will be very exciting. I can't wait to create this wonderful arena. Our group would love to be gladiators. We'll be the star of the show. We would like to be the Gladiators because we have the most important job, which we will be able to succeed.

We would really like to be gladiators because we like fighting with weapons and when the colosseum is done we can be gladiators and fight other gladiators and animals like lions,tigers, etc.

Following our job we'd be fighting other gladiators in front of thousands of people. This will be a challenge for us. We are able to fight anything or anyone that comes before us. We're strong enough to complete this job successfully. We'll be the star of the show.

Hello Emperor Vespasian, we hope to have the job of being an engineer. Being an engineer seems to be a very challenging job to us and we would like to make the plans of the unknown monument. With our teamwork we can make one of the best monument in history.

We all can't wait to build a massive colosseum. Hopefully we can be able to build the actual colosseum in our school this year. Jessica - I want to be a gladiator, because gladiators get to have fun adventures that people wouldn't really do in life. Corrine - I would like to be a slave, because I think it would be kind of interesting because I would like to the role of a slave to find out what it's like to be one. Also, Ashley- I would like to be a gladiator along with Neveda, because it sounds cool to be and that is one of the most important person in the making of the colosseum.

Jada, Kayla, Melanie expressed how they wanted to be the slaves. This was very commendable, as we know the slaves work very hard; sometimes all day and night. They want to be given the opportunity to show how skilled they are in designing this great building. I really like the fact that they said they would put all their effort into their work and would try their best. I know they will work very hard at this task.

I really was impressed with the fact that Tanzid, Justin, Jason and Matthew believe that in order to build this beautiful structure they know it would be a challenge. I also like the fact that they stated they would work as a team. Team effort is so important in helping to reach one's goal.

Jessica: I want to be a gladiator because to me I think that they are cool. Also gladiators have a lot of exciting things to do like fight lions and what not. I think a gladiator is cool because it is something people don't hear about that often. So this is the reason I wanted to be a gladiator.

My group was wondering if we could be the GLADIATORS we think we fit the job for entertaining the KING.
I think it's great how Daisy, Kimberly, and Alyssa think it's exciting to be a slave. Most people would not want to do this. This is very commendable. Especially given the fact that they are willing to work 24/7 to make this structure a beautiful one.
Emperor Vespasian,we would also like to be slaves because we would work as a team and when we work as a team, this structure will turn out to so beautiful. When we say something we stick. If you agree for us to be slaves it would be our honor.

Dear Emperor Vespasian,
My sisters and I have thought of designs for the colosseum. We have thought of using the design of arches to create the circular figure of the colosseum. We think it will be a great idea if we did so because all over rome there are many arches. My sisters and I have also thought of another idea which was building the seats almost 16 feet above ground so the people have a better view and will not be able to be harmed or hurt in the middle of these dangerous yet entertaining shows.

I think everyone will complete this task correctly and successfully. I think the choices everyone made was amazing. These jobs fit them and their statistics. This will eventually become an astonishing accomplishment.

Tanjil , Bradley, Mahendra, and Tin Wei said they would like to work for me if I paid them. I like the fact that you are so candid in your thinking; as far as getting paid is concerned. I also like the fact that you want to help me build this wondrous structure that hopefully will be in existence for many years to come.
I think that Julia, Natalie, and Amani would make perfect gladiators for the colosseum and they said that they won't let you down.
Thank you! We will do our best to make this arena nice. However, we would like to make some minor considerations to the arena being built. Many people from our communities and other places are going to be very excited for this new creation being built. We should give them the satisfaction they want to see. We should have bunches and bunches of arcs. This will make the arena strong and overwhelming. We also think that there should be tunnels and rooms, leading animals and performers to the middle of the arena. We hope you take our considerations into heart, Thank you once again.

Ms. Lewis I hope to become a gladiator along with Corrine and Jessica. The reason behind that is that gladiators get to be in the center of attention. They get to battle fierce creatures. That is why Corrine, Jessica and I would like to become gladiators!
This sounds exciting to do and we cant wait to do this. I would like to become a gladiator, because for one it is one of the most importrant parts in building the coliseum. Also, in building the coliseum they are the center of attention. Theu would fight for them and win the have good soldiers and I hope my wish come true and you will not think twice about your decision.

I think its great that you want to be a gladiator. That's right, the gladiators are the center of attention. Do you think it would be fun being a gladiator and entertaining Emperor Vespasian? Dear Emperor Vespasian, My group and I really want to be Gladiators from the beginning. We would really appreciate it if we were the great fighters for Emperor Vespasian.
I believe that the beginning of Rome was the most interesting part of Rome. I believe this because how Rome got his name. Rome got its name from the King Romulus after the argument in which he killed his brother Remus.
